Winter weather means cold temperatures, which beg for something warm and decadent like fur. Designers showed fur options ranging from a dash of extravagance to full blown opulence. Even something as small as fluffy cuffs on gloves add a level of luxury that can’t be dampened by icy mornings.
Faux fur has made tremendous improvements and no longer looks like you’re wearing a Muppet. Some of the options are so well done, you can hardly distinguish it from the real deal! So whether your indulgent, iffy or opposed, you can still wear a bit of fashionable fluff.
If you’re just easing into fur, try a cardigan with a fur collar. They’re generally removable, so it’s like having two cardigans in one. Or, look into buying just a fur collar that you can add to anything in your closet. And while a number of faux furs say they’re machine washable, exercise caution. Often times all the agitation of the machine will make them look mangy.
Fur has traditionally been some what fancy, but there is a wonderful slouchy element to this year’s offerings. It’s every bit as easy to wear as your favorite sweater, but richer. Vests have an innate “my other home is a chalet” air to them. I think a modern day Norma Desmond would opt for a cropped bolero. Both are great for every day wear or if your office is overly air conditioned.
