Every fashion and beauty magazine is raving how great red lipstick is right now. And they’re totally right- red lipstick is all kinds of awesome. But there’s a couple of things that all those magazines aren’t telling you.
First, let an expert help you find your perfect shade. If you can, skip the drugstore and go straight to a make up counter. It’s worth spending the few extra dollars to have a red lipstick that you’ll actually wear. A Chanel suit may be out of your price range, but a Chanel lipstick could be within your budget. A small splurge that makes everyday that much more fun!
If you can’t swing by a make up counter, pay attention to make up ads in magazines and note which models have similar coloring to you and what lipstick color they’re wearing. The same shades will probably look super on you. Then, find a formula and packaging that appeals to you.
Stylist Tip: For a smoother and longer lasting finish, use a cuticle balm instead of a lip balm as your base. I like the Burt’s Bees Lemon Cuticle Balm– the bees wax in it keeps my lips from drying out and keeps the color from feathering.
